Vitamix Review

Vitamix Review

I had one thing on my Christmas list I gave my husband this year- A Vitamix.

Anyone familiar with the cost of Vitamix understands why the list was short. These machines are a pretty penny.

But anyone who has used a Vitamix before also understands why I really wanted one.

Calling it a blender is like calling a Tesla a car. Sure it blends things, but it really does so much more than the basics. I’ve only had mine for about two weeks now, but I’m seriously in love.

For those considering buying one, I wanted to provide a Vitamix review. These are the biggest differences I’ve noticed over previous blenders I’ve owned. To be clear on comparisons, until now, I’ve used a standard Hamilton Beach Blender and a NutriBullet.

First, it’s powerful

About three days a week, I have a beet smoothie for breakfast – it’s honestly really good! Recipe to come in an upcoming blog post. Until I had the Vitamix, I had to boil the beet for about 30 minutes before I’d put it in my blender.

Two problems with this: First, who the hell wants to boil a beet at 6 a.m.?  Second, a lot of the vitamins and minerals in the beet are lost during the boiling process.

Now I just peel it, cut it in quarters and blend it in the Vitamix. If I tried this with either a traditional blender or a the NutriBullet, the machine would have broken.

Second, it’s a few kitchen gadgets in one

The Vitamix takes the place of my blender, but it has also taken the place of my Cuisinart. I use it to chop any vegetable from onions to cabbage. It literally takes seconds.

Third, you can make soup- like hot soup

I made cheddar and broccoli soup for the first time this past week completely in the Vitamix. Because the motor is so strong, the blades move so fast, they can literally heat up the contents inside.

In four minutes, I went from having a whole broccoli, cheese, and milk to ready-to-serve hot soup. So crazy!

And now that I have the basics down, I’m a blending machine!

More recipes and plenty of Vitamix tips and tricks to come in upcoming posts.
