Las Vegas: Things to Do

I likely spend my Vegas vacation a little different than most. For example, I was on my morning run at 6 a.m. on the Strip and dodge people walking home from the club. I think it’s awesome if you can drink and dance the night away. If there is any place to do it, it’s Vegas!

But for those looking for other options while you’re in the City of Sin, here are few of my top picks:

Of course Vegas is known for the shows

To Do show

And maybe it’s me, but I feel like the options keep getting better and better. More artists that I’m excited to see are setting up residencies in Vegas.

Beyond concerts, you can see practically any magic or Cirque du Soleil show imaginable.

Tip: If you don’t have your heart set on a specific show, check out one of the Tix for Tonight booths on the Strip. They have day of tickets for deep discounts. Of course, the options are limited and always changing, but it’s a great way to save some money which still checking out a great show.

But if you do want to commit to a show and buy the tickets in advance, there are some great choices.

First off, Britney Spears – Piece of Me is really amazing. The production quality is awesome, she sings ton of her classic hits and the choreography is top notch. Come on, it’s Britney. She did not disappoint.

However a surprising close second was Boyz II Men.  Humble and talented, they sound amazing, sing all the best songs and are so grateful for their fans. Loved it!

If you like magic, I highly recommend Mat Franco – Magic Reinvented Nightly. For those who aren’t familiar with Mat, he was season 9 winner of America’s Got Talent and the magic tricks he does are mind-blowing. It’s highly interactive with the audience and you can tell he is just up there having fun.

If you’re into Cirque du Soleil my favorite show is Zumanity at New York-New York. It’s rated 18 or over for nudity, but it’s not totally over the top.

Of course the acrobatics and stage production are amazing, as they are with all Cirque du Soleil show, but this one didn’t drag at all.

I’ve been in a few where after a good meal and a day in the sun, I’m fighting to keep my eyes open as the lights dim. Not the case for this show.

Just don’t take the kids or your parents either- Awkward…

If you’re looking for great views of the city, check out the The High Roller

To Do High Roller

It’s the huge Ferris Wheel you see in the Vegas skyline.

If you aren’t afraid of heights or claustrophobic (be honest with yourself before you commit!), I really recommend it checking it out.

You basically walk onto a transparent “pod” with about 40 other people and get to see amazing views of Las Vegas. Riding it is a mix of feeling like you’re not moving at all- and then realizing you are- and you’re up really high. In fact, the High Roller is the world’s largest observation wheel.

We went during the day, which was amazing, but if we go back, we’ll definitely pay extra for the dusk or evening ride. They also run a lot of great specials, so check out ticket online or through Groupon before you buy at the ticket office.

And finally the Gondola Ride at The Venetian. I know, so tourist, so cheesy, but I don’t care, I still loved it. First, the Venetian is a beautiful hotel. Second, if Venice is on your bucket list (Yes, Please!) why not pump yourself up with this replica experience?

Beyond that, it’s a calming and romantic thing to do in the middle of the excitement and craziness of Vegas.

Of course these are just the tip of the iceberg. There is also amazing shopping, great places to gamble and you can always just relaxing by a pool. Or take time and explore the hotels on the Strip. From Paris to the Bellagio, they all their own flavor and beauty!
