Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or just the cheer of this time of year, I hope you are enjoying this eve of Christmas Eve and looking forward to nice weekend with those you love.
I feel ridiculously blessed this year because I get to spend my first Christmas ever with my parents, sister, and my step kids.
Normally my step kids are with their mom and my husband and I alternate years between his parents and mine.
This year, the kids suggested it would be nice to spend Christmas eve and Christmas day with my family. They asked their mom, and she kindly agreed.
So tomorrow on Christmas Eve we will all make the trip down to my hometown of Visalia, California and spend a few days enjoying the Christmas holiday with my folks.
My step kids are 18 and 21, so Christmas eve and day means a relaxed pace and a day filled with watching movies, eating good food and a nap or two. Pretty perfect if you ask me!
Having my family together under one roof for the holiday means the world.
It also means setting aside expectations and just taking moments as they come.
No doubt, we’ll have some hiccups along the way, but the less stress I create about making things “perfect” the more wonderful each moment will be.
My goal is not to make this the best Christmas ever, but simply be present and take it all in. I hope everyone else can do the same!
