Sacramento has been my home for more than 15 years. I loved it back when I decided to move here (on a whim, right out of college), and I love it even more today.
The people are friendly and the community has a love for this town that is unlike anywhere else I’ve lived.
Our downtown is undergoing a massive revitalization, thanks in large part to the Golden1 Center arena that opened almost exactly one year ago.
And the benefits aren’t limited to watching Kings Games or going to awesome concerts. Restaurants and shops are opening all around the arena and more buildings are under construction or planned for the near future.
And we have a beautiful new hotel- The Kimpton Sawyer.
It’s just steps from the Golden1 Center and right in the heart of our blossoming downtown.
I had the opportunity to tour the hotel with a few other local bloggers, just before it opened. Let’s put it this way, I wasn’t the only one whose jaw dropped when I walked through the door.
The hotel has a beautiful, modern feel, with many small, unique touches.
The first floor has a large, open floor plan with high ceilings. At the same time, you get the comfortable feeling like you are in someone’s well-appointed living room when you sit in the beautiful couches just a few feet from the check-in desk.
You’ll feel even more at home when you experience the ways this hotel goes above and beyond.
To start, calling all coffee lovers! A Sacramento favorite, Old Soul Coffee, is served in the lobby every morning.
They also have a complimentary wine hour starting at 5 pm (for those that are interested).
And if you can’t travel without your furry family member, you’ll be pleased to know dogs are more than welcomed. Any size, any age. In fact, the marketing manager told us that if it can fit through the door, it can stay here. Now that’s pretty awesome.
The clean design of the lobby carries throughout the hotel, right into the guest rooms.
The rooms are simple, without the clutter. They have that special feel that only a boutique hotel can offer.
And for those (like me) that care about the gym, you won’t be disappointed. They have a lot of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and free weights. Everything is brand new and ready for you to get your sweat on!
And after a good workout, you’re going to have to eat, right?!
Trust me when I say you will love eating, and just relaxing, at The Sawyer’s restaurant- Revival.
At it’s really much more than a place to eat- it’s a place to just ‘be’.
The restaurant is an amazing indoor/outdoor space that looks out on the Downtown Commons and the Arena. Couches and tables make up small seating areas that are perfect for groups. Couples can also find great spots to hang out and enjoy the beautiful views.
And the pool. You have to see the pool! It reminds me of an infinity pool, stretching out for ever, and it has these gently rolling waves that are mesmerizing.
Revival’s menu is appetizer-style and the options are full of flavor.
My favorites included the Maine Lobster Corn Dogs and their huge tater tots with yummy dipping sauces. Absolute perfection!
For those interested in hanging poolside for a while, you can rent cabanas, which can host about 10 of your friends.
In the later hours of the evening, the restaurant changes things up with more of a nightclub feel. A DJ then sets the vibe for a great night poolside and under the stars.
So, if you’re a Sacramento local, definitely enjoy a night out at Revival.
And for those traveling to Sacramento- first, I think you will find this town to be as wonderful as I do. The people, the food, the energy- its all wonderful.
Second, book a room at the Sawyer. You won’t be disappointed!
