Las Vegas: Best Places for Dessert

One thing I discovered in sobriety is the joy in a good dessert. When I was drinking, I was always baffled by people with a sweet tooth. I had no interest in desserts (or honestly food for that matter) because I couldn’t see past my martini.

Now, I’ve come to appreciate a sweet treat.

Especially when I’m on vacation- I love relaxing my diet and trying things I’d normally avoid. This trip to Vegas was no expectation and no surprise- there were plenty of over the top dessert options. Here are some of my favs.

Serendipity 3

This place just makes me happy. I’ve been to the locations in New York and Georgetown and the one in Vegas is so much fun as well. The restaurant looks out on the Strip and is on the grounds of Caesar’s Palace. If the weather is nice, try and snag a spot on the front or back patios.

Tip: Even if you are going at an off time, use OpenTable and make a reservation. It’s the difference between waiting an hour or sitting right away.

We ate lunch here and opted for “The One & Only Las Vegas Strip Steak Sandwich”- because really, how could you not?

It was so good and ridiculously big, so definitely something to split. Upgrade to the sweet potato waffle fries, which come with an amazing dipping sauce and a slight dusting of powder sugar. This really could pass for a dessert all on its own.

But back to the point of this post – desserts- and you really can’t go wrong at Serendipity.

We went with the Deep-Fried Snickers Sundae. In a word- WOW. Perfect mix of sweet and salty. It’s a calorie blowout that is completely and totally worth it. Piled high in a glass sundae cup, its lots of ice cream, lots of chocolate and caramel, and great deep-fried Snickers!

BLVD Creamery

If you are a fan of ice cream (and who really isn’t!), definitely add this place to your list?

I think they have they perfect mix of flavor options- I’d say about 16 when we were there. Just enough so I had a good selection, but not so many that I was overwhelmed.

Although they carry the classics, I went with a favor I don’t see every day – Peanut Butter & Jelly.

It was so good- like surprisingly good! I love when that happens.

If you want to go a little crazy, try out the ice cream in a donut. I skipped it this time because there is an amazing place where I live in Sacramento called The Parlor– which has literally perfected the ice cream donut- but if you haven’t tried one before, this is your chance.

You also have plenty of other options to match up with your ice creaming, including cookies for ice cream sandwiches, toppings for sundaes, and an assortment of macarons.

Check it out, it’s right by the Monte Carlo hotel.

Sprinkles

Sprinkles Cupcakes- you just have to smile when you say it.

These cupcakes are so ridiculously good. They have normal sized, a few flavors in mini versions (nice if you want to sample a few options), and even cupcakes for your pup. I did the peanut butter chocolate cupcake (clearly I’m a fan of all things peanut butter). My husband tried the cinnamon sugar cupcake. Both were insanely good.

Sprinkles is by the LINQ Promenade and if you’re there after hours or the line is too long check out their Cupcake ATM.

You can literally get your cupcake ATM style.

You read that right- an ATM for cupcakes. I had to check it out, but decided to go into the shop for my purchase. The flavors are limited at the ATM, so it was a no go for me. But if you love the classics, the ATM has you covered. And it’s 24 hours, so after you have danced all night or walked the Strip into the wee hours, you can still get that sugar fix!

The Buffet at Wynn

It’s ridiculous, it’s over the top, and it’s so Vegas- you have to try it out.

If you are a dessert person, you will love this buffet. The food is amazing too, but there’s just too much to cover, so I’m keeping it to the desserts.

First off, you have too many options to count. They have a case of desserts. And that’s on top of the dessert displays and a person that will hand-scoop your ice cream. From cookies, to cupcakes, to candy- it’s all there for the taking. So just go and enjoy. But you better come hungry, because the Buffett is HUGE!

Tip: If you don’t want to wait in the line (because it can be over two hours), go the VIP route. For an extra $12.00 a person you can skip the line. And you get to go right to the stuff you came for!

So that’s a quick rundown of my sugar-fueled Vegas experience. In a word, AMAZING!
