Trader Joe’s Seasonings

Trader Joe's Seasonings

I could seriously just roam the Trader Joe’s seasonings aisle for hours. Of course, every aisle seems to have something I can’t live without.

Frozen veggies in an exotic sauce, chocolate from Brazil, some kind of fish I’ve never heard of before… the list goes on and on.

And while I can (and do) live without many of these things, I have to say it’s hard to pass up their signature spices.

If you aren’t a big fan of the store, I’d still really recommend checking out Trader Joe’s seasoning and spice section.

A few reasons:

  • The price is right… many are under $2.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • I promise, if you figure out how you like your veggies seasoned, you’ll eat more veggies.

Don’t have a location near your home? No worries. Many of Trader Joe’s seasonings are sold on Amazon. Including all the ones I cover below.

Here’s a little run down of my favorites:

Everyday Seasoning

It’s a combination of sea salt, mustard seeds, black peppercorns, coriander, onion, garlic, paprika, and chili pepper. The taste is perfectly salty, slightly spicy, and super savory.

I sprinkle it on veggies with a little avocado oil and then pop it into the oven for a quick roast. I also put a few dashes on pretty much any kind of protein, including beans, tofu, chicken, or fish.

No calories for this seasoning, but it does have 80 mg of sodium per ¼ tsp. So sprinkle, don’t dump.

21 Seasoning Salute

This seasoning is a mix of onion, black pepper, celery seed, cayenne pepper, parsley, basil, marjoram, bay leaf, oregano, thyme, savory, rosemary, cumin, mustard, coriander, garlic, carrot, orange peel, tomato, lemon juice, and lemon oil.

I know, it’s a lot.

So what do you do with all these flavors? One idea is salad dressings. Just toss the seasoning into your favorite oil for a great taste sensation. You can also add it to turkey burger meat before grilling.

No calories or sodium in this one, so sprinkle freely!!

Insider tip:  Sprinkle it into the palm of your hand first and then use your fingertips to break up the spices which release their essential oils.

Everything But the Bagel

I think this one might be my favorite. If you love an everything bagel, I think you’ll agree.

It’s a blend of white and black sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, onion, and sea salt flakes. It’s all the taste of an everything bagel, sans the carbs!  Yahoo!

I love this one on eggs, in quinoa, on grilled chicken, and all kinds of veggies.

It’s the only one with calories, but they are marginal. Only 5 per ¼ tsp. A serving does have 80 mg of sodium, so don’t load up or you could feel bloated the next day. The good news is a little goes a long way!

Adding seasoning is a great way to make healthy food even tastier. Head down to Trader Joe’s (or Amazon) and start seasoning up those veggies and lean proteins!
