The weekend is here friends, and I could not be more ready!
I have big plans for this weekend, and they include a lot of unstructured fun. I know, so crazy. I don’t think I’ve had one of these weekends in while, and looking at the calendar, I don’t see another one in my near future.
Since I’ve been daydreaming about this weekend for a while now, I’ve pulled together a few ideas for a perfect leisurely weekend.
Slow my Pace
How long does it take you to get into weekend mode? I know as I leave work, I’m ready to relax. But after a nice Friday night, I’ll wake up on Saturday ready to jump back into my task-driven pace.
Reminding myself to slow down a bit from my normal weekday rush always helps me soak in the weekend a little more.
Start Something on my “Want to Read” List
Starting a new book still makes me excited. If you’ve been between books for a while, or have really fallen out of interest with your current read, the weekend is a great time to figure out what new book could capture your attention for the new few weeks.
And even though I have a Kindle and love it, I still like walking through a book store and thumbing through the pages of a few different book options. Bookstores embody a weekend pace.
Watch a Funny and Mindless Movie or TV Show
Both of these are most definitely happening this weekend, and I think they are just what the doctor ordered in these times when sadness and violence seem overwhelmingly frequent.
I’ve been craving something that will make me laugh from joy. I have a good feeling I’ll find that at the movies when I see The Secret Life of Pets this weekend. I’ve always wondered what my little puppy Oreo was up to while I was at work. Soon I’ll know!
On the other end of the mindless spectrum is a really good TV drama. I have most definitely found that in my latest TV obsession, UnREAL.
If you haven’t seen this show yet, I highly recommend it! It’s a drama on Lifetime that revolves around two female producers of a reality show, much like the Bachelor. And much like a real-life reality show, the drama on this series comes at you head on and fast-paced.
It’s currently in it’s second season, but you can watch Season 1 on Hulu. I can’t recommend it enough.
Zone in on a New Tea Obsession
I recently started the Tone It Up plan. Although you can have desserts on certain nights, I’ve loved how much my sugar cravings have dropped since I started the plan.
However, I still like the thought of enjoying something after dinner. Tea has been my new go to. Something with a little sweetness or a flavorful Earl Grey have been my favorites lately.
So this weekend I plan on finding some new options to add into my evening rotation.
Teavana has some great options and they offer in-store tastings. However, a lot of great mom and pop tea and coffee shops have awesome selections and can help you pick the perfect tea, based on your taste.
Massage
This weekend we’ve booked an hour and half couples massage and I could not be more excited. Massages aren’t cheap, but they are a wonderful treat. Beyond feeling good in the moment, when I get a deeper tissue massage I feel the difference for days, especially if I am faithful to my stretching routine.
I have a membership to Massage Envy and I treat myself to a massage about once a month. I like Massage Envy because the prices are very reasonable and the massages are usually pretty awesome. Just taking in the luxurious spa smell when I walk in the door makes me instantly relax.
No matter what your plans are, I hope you take time to relax and soak up the slower pace. You deserve it! Here’s to the Weekend!!
